Directors
The documentary is being realized by a three-person creative team of Maria Ramas, Kate Johnson and Michael Masucci.

Kate Johnson

Kate Johnson's work has been defined by an immersion in all aspects of filmmaking from performance, to production and post production as well as media forms from avant garde art to television broadcast and traditional film. She is partner in EZTV in Santa Monica, CA, where she has worked as director, editor, producer, motion graphics designer and video artist. Her work has been seen in a variety of venues from The Cannes Film Festival, The History Channel, Channel 5 in France, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, to the SIGGRAPH and DV Expo conferences, and in theatres and public spaces internationally.

In Oct 2007 she was commissioned to create the opening montage as well as motion graphics and video imagery for Maria Shriver's The Women's Conference. She created designs for former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Governor Schwarzenegger, Queen Rania of Jordan, Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunnis among others. This was her fourth commission for the event, previous events included her designs for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Barbara Walters, Tom Brokaw, and Jane Fonda.

This year also saw the completion of "Never Apologize" starring Malcolm McDowell in his one-man show about his life with revolutionary filmmaker Lindsay Anderson. Working with producer and director Mike Kaplan, Kate did the final edit of the film where it went onto its screenings at Cannes Film Festival, the AFI Film Festival, the Chicago Film Festival as well as festivals in Korea, Germany, France and London.

She was the editor and designer for the documentaries: "Silk King: Jim Thompson the Life and Disappearance of an Expatriate" (she also composed original music ranging from Thai based to traditional symphonic) which showed on France Television Channel 5. She is collaborating with the filmmaker Hope Anderson again on a feature documentary "Under the Hollywood Sign" exploring the fascinating history of one of Los Angele's most historic neighborhoods.

Kate also edited "The Healing Passage: Voices from the Water" directed by S. Pearl Sharp about the holocaust resulting from the slave trade and current artists' work to heal the wounds has been hailed critically and has received 8 awards including best documentary and the Blockbuster Audience Choice Award at film festivals around the country.

Currently, she is directing a film following a breast cancer patient and survivor, as well as co-directing "Mia, A Dancer's Odyssey", and is the editor and designer of an upcoming documentary on the history of Ivy League football featuring Tommy Lee Jones,
Matthew Fox, Brian Dennehy, and many celebrated pro football stars.

In the Los Angeles dance community Kate is known for her extensive collaborations with dance companies. She has created video designs and animations for live performance as well as short films based upon her work with dancers. She has worked extensively with Loretta Livingston and Dancers for 10 years and will be creating a new work with her premiering in June 2008. In the fall of 2007 she was the director of photography and editor for the short dance film "Of Time and Spirit" choreographed and directed by Tonia Shimin.

She has served on the board of the Academy of Dance on Film, has lectured at The American Film Institute, DV Expo, SIGGRAPH, the University of Helsinki and Tekes (Finnish Government Technology Attache), and is an ongoing lecturer on filmmaking and sound design at Otis College of Art and Design.
